Posting from an unrated set of tees on a rated course
If a Course Rating and Slope Rating aren't available for the tees you played for your gender, you can use this procedure on a temporary basis:
- Find the nearest set of rated tees for the appropriate gender.
- Work out the yardage difference between the tees you played and that rated set.
- Use the NCGA adjustment table to find the range that includes your yardage difference.
- If the tees you played are longer, add the table's Course Rating and Slope values to the rated tees. If they're shorter, subtract them.
An example
Johnny played the red tees, but there was no rating or slope for men. He looked up the white tees — 70.0 and 122. The yardage difference came to about 250 yards. From the table, he needed to subtract 1.1 from the course rating and 3 from the slope. So when he posted, he entered the course manually as 68.9 course rating and 119 slope.
Stuck? The Course Rating feeds your Handicap Index, so it matters. If the procedure isn't clear, ask the Handicap Chair — they're glad to walk you through it.
