The advantages of RIGG
Beyond the good company, membership comes with some genuinely handy perks — and a lot of arranging you no longer have to do yourself.
Negotiated green fees
Rates are worked out with each course every year — typically a senior weekday rate that's tough to beat on your own.
Walk if you like
At several courses the cart is optional, so the walkers among us can stretch their legs.
Practice balls
Many of the courses we play throw in free or reduced-cost range balls before the round.
The annual luncheon
A RIGG-hosted year-end luncheon at a local course, with prizes for most-improved player and merchandise certificates from our courses.
Pay on the day
Green fees are usually paid on the morning of the round, in cash or by card — which makes late additions and cancellations easy. A few courses ask to be paid about five days ahead through one of our collectors; that’s uncommon, and you’ll be told which weeks it applies to.
Civilized tee times
Rounds usually go off between 8 and 10 in the morning — done by early afternoon.
Nothing to arrange
The year’s courses are booked roughly a year ahead. No ringing round for a tee time, no wondering where you’re playing next or how to get your name down — it’s all set out for you.
Play with who you like
Depending on the week’s numbers you can usually ask to be paired with particular people — for the company, or to share a car. Just leave a note when you sign up.
A real field every week
We normally put out six to eight groups of four, every Wednesday except holidays. Members are asked to play at least 15 times a year.
Weekly and team prizes
Closest to the Pin is played most weeks and pays $10 a hole. Several times a year we run team competitions — best-ball and similar formats — with prizes of their own. Your winnings are tracked for you and shown in the Members area.
An official handicap
Your annual dues include NCGA membership, so you carry an official index. Dues are $85 for 2026, covering RIGG and the NCGA together.
A wide range of golfers
Around 60 members, aged from about 55 to over 90, with handicaps from roughly 5 to 35 and up. Tournaments are flighted, so a good day counts whatever you play off.
